I used metallic sewing thread held together with the yarn to form a quick stripe in an otherwise plain hat. This hat is knit from sock yarn I found at the thrift store. It is a lovely blue with a very slight tweed effect, and is very tightly plied. I held two strands of the yarn together to knit the hat so it would go a bit faster. It would’ve been better if I’d use smaller needles to knit the ribbing, as it is it poofs out a tiny bit. The top of the hat is formed by decreasing 4 stitches every round to form a swirl. Get more of a pointed swirl of fact by knitting a round between decrease rounds, less of a point by decreasing every round.
